The Christensen's slice of family life in a rural small Iowa Town
Welcome to our Family blog. We are currently living in Iowa Falls, IA.
We hope that our everyday things will brighten your day. It is my hope that this blog will be a way to communicate to our family and friends. I also hope that once we get more free time I can communicate fun things going on in our world, new recipes and crafty things I have done as Chloe will allow me too.
The steam Boat Pumpkin Patch is worth driving to if you live in the Iowa River Valley. It's pretty and so fun for the family they have a corn pit (like a sand box full of corn) a corn maze (which we got lost in so we cut through to the end) farm animals that you can feed oh yeah and a pumpkin patch. Pumpkins are .25 a lb so I had to bake and freeze three of them, and got about 12 cups to use! I love this picture, this is Chloe's friend that went with us gotta love the corn! yes a barn that has a rope you can swing on and jump into the hay, so fun!
me: Gar, Chloe woke up with a cough Gar: take her to the dr. me: um maybe you should cheek her lungs before we just take her to the dr Gar: were is my stethoscope?
yep just a cold, no dr. visit, so nice to have dr. daddy always here to see what is a yukky cough.(not what she had) Chloe is just fine. I love these pictures they are so cute and so perfect, Chloe had to keep playing with daddy's toy. hum future pharmacist? What is the diagnosis Chloe?
Chloe is getting so big, Her pig tales are such a great symbol of toddler hood! we had such a great October, Halloween is 3 days away I am excited for her to trick or treat at our local nursing home.
Our local park is awesome! I love it, this october it has been in the 70's all month except this past week. The sun was plentiful and welcoming us everyday. Chloe loves the swings, and goes down the big girl slide with out me helping her! it's so fun to watch her grow up so so fast! Our park days might be coming to an end, so sad... Chloe will have to find other ways to entertain her self, like sitting on my lap while I am writing this post watching sleeping beauty on you tube, she's an angle sitting on my lap, so cozy on a yukky day like this. What a great night to just cozy up.
yes, Chloe is going through the princess stage, I thought I had years to prepare for this but nope, every morning she want's to be cinderella, and dance with her princess doll (sleeping Beauty) and either me sing once upon a dream or have it play and dance to it, I love it!
Potty training is slow going, she know what to do and the concept of it but she is too busy to tell me when she has to go and so we are just keep at it and hope that soon she will stop and tell me, however now that she knows that she can have princess panties (huggies girl pull ups) that is all she want's to wear! oh if only i can get her to go into her big girl panties (underwear) that has cinderrella on it it would save us money... Soon I hope
Yes that is what she is going to be for halloween, if I could get her to dress up in anything else I would but what a cute cinderrella she will be!
As you know I love to paper craft, and as usual I don't have time to mess with showing my art work, here are some fun cards I have been making or have made. yes I have started selling them although most of them I have been giving away as gifts, so here are some of my hand made cards. I should also say that I make them for Cards for Solders, it's a project that us card makers do for the solders over seas, we send them cards so they can write back home to loved ones, it's a great way to share your paper craft skills.
need some cards that have a bit more of a personal touch, let me know I will make some for you, or I would love to make your Christmas cards, email me or post a comment if interested and I will give you more info As you know I love to paper craft, and as usual I don't have time to mess with showing my art work, here are some fun cards I have been making or have made. yes I have started sellilng them althought most of them I have been giving away as gifts, so here are some of my hand made cards. I was so blessed to go to a scrap booking weekend during the first weekend in October, I absolutely loved it! (yes that is my girly apron I made, gotta love girly girls huh?)
You might ask humm what exactly do you do at a scrap booking weekend? it's not what you think... We talk, eat yummy food, learn new ideas, and talk with the new friends we made and if we have time we scrapbook and make cards and play with our/friends toys. It's a blast.
This is the 5th time Dara put this weekend together, it was a ton of fun. She rents out the christian camp on Pine Lake for the weekend and then we use the big community room hall for our "crop" (that is were all of us hang out and do what we do) and then when we get tiered we have a cabin to sleep in, but we don't sleep very long, so we don't really use the cabins. on top of all that, we can be pampered with a massage if wanted, we have a secret sister gift exchange and the meals are provided so we don't have to mess with going out side of the camp or bringing tons of food. It is such a fun time to learn new skills.
here is were we played around at, gotta love all the stuff we take a long to one of these weekends, I was under packed as you can tell from the picture of me with my stuff Every one had so many new toys it was so hard to find time to see all the fun stuff every one had!
this amazing lady truly knows her stuff she made this matt and frame! isn't it great! Amber made this amazing Christmas house with her pattern paper using her Cricut! with now real directions, she just made it! see all those christmas lights, yep she made that by hand! wow! I love clean layouts, they are the best! I especially loved this page since she made all of this by hand, no stickers! all from her Cricut! wow!
So coming soon will be more crafty things I made for you to see, cheek back soon to see my new found creativity and inspiration!
Yes that is our little miss, I usually do not let other professionals take her pictures, as I feel that I do just as good as she does but when they offer a free session and two free 8x10 It's hard to resist.
there is a bit of story behind this, as some of you know I worked at a portrait studio owned by Life Touch called Flash I was the assistant manager and liked the possibility of taking that great portrait of a child, we had great customers. I did learn a ton from that job and know feel that I can take a great portrait of most any one if the occasion arises. So here I am 7 years later letting some one else do my job for my daughter, The photographer was all right but the photographer in side me thought that I would have done things differently than the way he did I can't blame him too much, he was new to the studio. I think he did a great job with Chloe and in turn we got two 8x10's
